In Memoriam Sunday, November 27th was a very sad day for the Pence family. Our beloved McDuff crossed over the Rainbow Bridge to be with his brothers, Baxter and Hank. McDuff had developed an inoperable brain tumor and we had to make the very difficult decision to let him go. While not an easy thing to do, we knew in our hearts that it was the right decision so that McDuff could once again be without pain and resume a great Westie life.
We rescued McDuff in April 2009-or as Sandy says-McDuff rescued us. We got him from the Tennessee Rescue Group and he was our first rescue. We always described McDuff as our “grumpy” guy but he really was a softy at heart. He was the best guard dog you could ask for…he protected us from every school age child that walked down the street….there wasn’t a delivery truck that could sneak up on our house…and no squirrel was safe anywhere in our yard. McDuff was 10 ½ years young and we just hope that his last 2 ½ years with us were the best of his life.
McDuff will be missed by all of us forever.
Gary and Sandy Pence
Our much-loved little girl “Daisy” passed away 09/01/10, after a short battle with cancer. Daisy rescued us 3-1/2 years ago and was a joyous part of our lives, making us laugh with her funny antics and amusing “over-bite” which always resembled a smile of her own. The love shared was priceless and we look forward to seeing her again at the Bridge”. She is missed. McCartney, Christine & Martin Saunders
Wanted you to know that Harry, my faithful little companion for the last 3+ years, has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. Harry, a Westie rescue and recipient of WestiMed assistance, had many health issues that slowly took their toll. He was faithful, loving and true to his breed in his fight against his health issues. He shall be sorely missed. BJ (aka Beverley) Harrison
From the moment we brought Riley & Snickers home our lives were changed forever. I truly believe that we were the ones who were rescued. We got so much joy living with Riley. He was always the alpha dog. He had to be the first one out the door. He had to be the lead dog on walks. He actually had to be first in anything (Snickers was always happy to follow) One of his favorite times was to chase a squirrel from one end of the fence to the other. He was never even close but he loved being in charge of his yard. Friends were always entertained on our deck as Riley chased flies & even bees. His favorite , however, was to chase & bark at the UPS truck....never Fed Ex or DHL. I don't think I'll ever see UPS and not think fondly of Riley.
