Membership Information

Thank you for your interest in the Westie Club of the South, Inc., a 501 (C) (3) non-profit corporation. Membership in the Westie Club of the South, Inc. is a wonderful way to share your love of West Highland White Terriers.  We are always excited to meet Westie lovers and their furry, white friends.

Membership Benefits

There are many benefits to being a member, such as:

  • Six club meetings per year. Meetings are usually held on the third Sunday of the designated month. Each meeting offers an opportunity to meet other Westie lovers and learn something new. Westies are generally invited to attend the meetings with you.
    • February:  General Membership Meeting
    • April:  Rescue Reunion
    • June:  Annual Meeting, Banquet and Fundraising Auction for Westie Rescue
    • August:  General Membership Meeting
    • October:  Howloween Party
    • December:  Snow Ball
  • Bi-monthly newsletter Westie Tales
  • Westie Alerts:  E-mail notification of Westie-related products and services
  • Opportunity to join the Atlanta Westie Rescue Committee (AWRC), a service of the Westie Club of the South, Inc.  Volunteer opportunities with the AWRC include foster care, home visits and transportation.
  • Educational programs and opportunities, including the Westie Ambassador Certification Program
  • Grooming seminars
  • The Dog Sitting Co-op, exclusively for Westie Club of the South,Inc. members.
  • Getting to know a lot of super Westies and their humans.

See the Calendar for specific meeting dates and topics.  You are welcome to attend a meeting prior to submitting your membership application.

Membership Requirements

Membership is open to individuals and families. To be considered for Membership in the Westie Club of the South, Inc, an Applicant(s) must subscribe to the purposes of the Club (see Constitution, By-Laws, Code of Ethics and Breeder Code of Ethics) and be in good standing with the American Kennel Club.  (Membership in the American Kennel club is not required for membership.)

FAMILY MEMBERSHIP:  For membership purposes, families shall consist of no more than 2 adults and their minor children all residing at the same address. All family members over the age of 21 can vote and hold office. All family members can participate in all Club-sponsored competitions and activities.

INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP:  Individuals 21 years of age and older.

Membership is unrestricted as to residence.  You are welcome to apply no matter where you live.  Memberships are not transferable.

It's easy! Annual dues are $25 for each family as defined above or for any individual membership. To apply for membership, please:

What's Next?

Upon receipt of your fully complete and signed application and your membership dues, the Membership Chairperson will contact you to answer any questions you may have.  Your application information will then be forwarded to the members of the Board of Directors.  Generally speaking, the membership process takes approximately 2 weeks from the date of receipt of the application.
